About Drain Busters
It all started in the spring of 1990. With the support of his parents and family and a loan of £3000 from the ‘Prince Charles Youth Business Trust’. This enabled Mr. Ian Parker to purchase a reconditioned drain jetting machine and set up the fledgling business called DRAIN BUSTERS.
The first few years trading were slow, having to diversify into garden maintenance and bizarrely, selling fruit and vegetables from a shop in Barrowford.
The first big break came in 1995, in the way of Rossendale Borough Council and then Burnley Borough Council, working with Environmental Health, Property and Drainage departments, carrying out drain clearance to private and public sewers. Also, with their newly acquired camera, CCTV camera investigation and tracing work, as they still do today. Pendle Borough Council came on board much later, with the loss of their own jetter due to cutbacks.
Greenvale Homes (formerly Rossendale council houses), a social charitable landlord with over 3,500 houses, were quick to capitalize on Drain Busters’ expertise in solving emergency drain/wc problems. A partnership which started in 2006, that has been mutually beneficial for both parties.
Which brings us up to date, with the certified membership of the Lancashire County Council Trading Standards ‘Safe Trader Scheme’. This is a register of businesses that Trading Standards have vigorously inspected and comply with their exacting standards
